Philippines puts 42 airports on high alert over bomb threat

ISTANBUL

The Philippines on Friday placed 42 commercial airports under “heightened security alert” after officials received a bomb threat via email, state news agency PNA reported.

“While the information is currently under validation, immediate enhanced security measures are being implemented across all airports,” the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said in a statement.

The authority advised international passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled flight to avoid any inconvenience.

The public was also urged to cooperate fully with security personnel and to remain vigilant while at the airport.
