Pakistan on Monday accepted the Indian proposal to hold a meeting on proposed Kartarpur border corridor between two countries on April 16, an official said.

"Continuing with #Pakistan's spirit of constructing engagement, we have agreed to the Indian proposal for a technical meeting on 16 April," said Mohammad Faisal, spokesman for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry of Pakistan, in a Twitter post.

“We expect positivity from India so that the corridor becomes reality for 550th celebrations,” Faisal added .

On Thursday, Faisal told reporters during his weekly briefing that India has requested for a meeting of technical experts on April 15 or 16 at zero point of Kartarpur sahib and they are considering on Indian request favorability.

The meeting, which Pakistan said was jointly agreed on by both sides, was previously slated to be held on April 2 to discuss issues related to a proposed opening of a border corridor that will provide visa-free access to Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit their holy sites in Pakistan.

However, on March 29, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that India has shared concerns and sought clarification on reports that controversial elements have been appointed by Pakistan to a committee to be associated with the Kartrpur corridor, without elaborating the elements.
