Murder charges against former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan were dismissed on Monday, his lawyer said.

Khan is already in jail over graft charges.

Naeem Panjutha, lawyer of Khan, said in a message posted on X by Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party that a court in Quetta city of southwestern Balochistan province dismissed the charges related to the murder of a lawyer.

“The FIR (regarding murder) has been withdrawn … justice has won,” Panjutha said, referring to the first information report, which named the former prime minister for the murder in June.

He is facing nearly 150 cases ever since being removed from power last year in April.

Khan has challenged the conviction over allegedly concealing details about the foreign gifts he had received during his nearly four-year stint in government.

He is serving a three-year prison sentence in the northwestern Attock city.
