Mortar attacks rock Afghan capital on Independence Day
No immediate reports of casualties as multiple mortars hit Kabul's diplomatic enclave

KABUL, Afghanistan
Multiple mortars were fired by unknown assailants towards the diplomatic enclave in the capital Kabul amid Independence Day celebrations in Afghanistan on Tuesday, an official confirmed.
Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said in a statement that there have been no casualties reported so far and investigations into the attacks are underway.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks, which coincided with Independence Day events at the presidential palace, defense ministry, and other government offices within the highly-secured diplomatic zone.
Back in March, similar mortar attacks briefly disrupted the oath-taking ceremony of President Ashraf Ghani.
