At least 23 people have been killed by lightning strikes in Bangladesh over the last 48 hours, according to an official on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people die every year due to lightning strikes in the country. The recent deaths follow a series of deadly landslides during the ongoing monsoon season in the country.
Reaz Ahmed, head of the disaster management department, confirmed the death toll to Anadolu Agency.
“We are campaigning over the media to raise awareness about how to stay safe from thunderbolts,” Ahmed said.
