ASTANA, Kazakhstan

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Tuesday met with Estonian Premier Juri Ratas, who has been paying an official visit to Astana.

The issues of digitalization, innovative technology, cooperation in commercial and economic fields between the two countries were discussed in the meeting, according to a statement by Kazakhstan's presidency.

Noting that Estonia has rich experience in the field of digitalization, Nazarbayev underlined the need of developing trade relations between the two countries.

Nazarbayev also thanked Ratas for his attendance in the opening ceremony of the international technology park of IT startups "Astana Hub".

The Kazakh president informed Ratas about the projects related to increasing the potential of infrastructure, transit and transportation in the country.

He also stressed the importance of developing cooperation in agriculture, pharmacy and other sectors of the economy.

On his first visit to Kazakhstan, Ratas, for his part, said: "Based on the infrastructure facilities of Astana, we can see how the country is developing."

Ratas added that Estonia would like to implement joint projects in the fields of digitalization, transportation and logistics, as well as the expansion of investment cooperation.
