Indonesia issues tsunami warning after strong earthquake
7.5 magnitude earthquake strikes Southeast Asian island nation Friday evening
JAKARTA
A 7.54-magnitude earthquake struck northwest on the Indonesia island of Java on Friday at 7.03 p.m. local time (12:03GMT).
Indonesian authorities issued a tsunami alert for Banten, Lampung, West Java, and Bengkulu.
The quake's epicenter was 147 kilometers southwest of Sumur-Banten and 10 km below the surface.
Tremors were felt in Indonesia’s capital.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
