India on Tuesday announced it conducted two consecutive successful flight tests of the propellant quasi-ballistic missile Pralay.

The South Asian nation's Defense Research and Development Organization conducted the test off the coast of eastern Odisha state on July 28 and 29, India’s Defense Ministry said in a statement.

“The flight tests were carried out as a part of user evaluation trials to validate the maximum and minimum range capability of the missile system. The missiles precisely followed the intended trajectory and reached the target point with pinpoint accuracy, meeting all the test objectives,” the statement said.

It added, “all subsystems performed as per expectations.”

According to the defense ministry, Pralay is an “indigenously-developed solid propellant quasi-ballistic missile employing state-of-the-art guidance and navigation to ensure high precision.”

“The missile is capable of carrying multiple types of warheads against various targets,” it said.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said the missile’s modern technology will provide a “further technological boost” to the armed forces against threats.

India conducted several missile tests this month, including on July 17, when it tested two short-range ballistic missiles.

Earlier, India successfully destroyed two high-speed unmanned aerial targets at high altitude in the Ladakh region, bordering China, using the Akash Prime missile system.
