A blast at a machinery factory in China’s largest city killed four workers and injured two others Wednesday.

The Shanghai Daily reported that those who sustained injuries were transported from the Shanghai Zhizhuo Machine Equipment Co. Ltd. in Baoshan District to a nearby hospital, where they are in stable condition.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Dozens of people are killed in industrial accidents in China each year, raising questions about lax safety regulations in the country.

In October last year, nine workers were confirmed dead after an explosion at a chemical plant in eastern Shandong province ripped through a total of 401 workshops.

On Aug. 12, two massive warehouse explosions rocked the northern port city of Tianjin, leaving 173 dead including many fire fighters.

In Dec. 2014, at least 17 people were killed and 20 others injured in a factory explosion in southern Guangdong province.
