Explosion rocks port in eastern China

ISTANBUL

An explosion hit a port in eastern China on Friday, state media reported.

The incident was reported in the Zhejiang province at the port of Ningbo-Zhoushan.

The powerful explosion hit a container ship berthed at the port, causing flames which billowed out large amounts of smoke, at around 1.40 p.m. (0540GMT), according to local authorities.

No casualties have been reported yet, but an investigation of the incident has been launched.
