China's top diplomat reiterates support for Pakistan's sovereignty, development

ISLAMABAD 

Chinese top diplomat Wang Yi met with Pakistan army chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and reiterated support for Pakistan's sovereignty and development, the military said on Friday.

Foreign Minister Wang met with Gen. Munir in Islamabad and discussed regional security, counter-terrorism and matters of mutual interest, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a media-wing of Pakistan army in a statement.

"Mr. Wang Yi reiterated China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development," it said.

The two sides also reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen the all-weather strategic partnership and enhance coordination at regional and international forums.

Wang, who arrived in Pakistan late Wednesday, also met with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar on Thursday.
