China, South Korea report new coronavirus cases

ANKARA

China reported eight more coronavirus cases, while South Korea recorded 61 new infections in the last 24 hours, authorities said on Sunday.

The six of new infections were imported, according to China's National Health Commission.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in China reached 83,553, while the country's death toll stands at 4,634.

So far, 78,516 patients have recovered from the disease.

South Korea

In South Korea, 18 of 61 new cases came from abroad, according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

No deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours.

The total number of cases are 13,091 in the country, while the death toll stands at 283.

Since first appearing in China last December, the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 188 countries and regions. The US, Brazil and Russia are currently the countries hardest hit in the world.

The pandemic has killed more than 531,000 people worldwide, with infections surpassing 11.2 million and recoveries over 6 million, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
