China’s top advisory body began the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Tuesday in Beijing, CGTN reported.

More than 2,000 lawmakers gather at the Great Hall of the People for the annual “Two Sessions,” also known as the lianghui meetings, as China's political calendar enters a critical phase.

President Xi Jinping and high-ranking officials reportedly attended, where the chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Wang Huning, presented a report on the committee's past achievements.

"We should implement the important arrangements of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,” to improve “consultative democracy mechanism, promoting the construction of consultative democracy of the CPPCC,” said Wang.

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China gathered in 2022 from Oct. 16 – 22.

Another member of CPPCC, Qiao Hong, said, "China's robotics industry has made significant progress, narrowing the gap to the international level,” and noted that China can produce “low-cost, high-performance robotics systems to support the country's industrial and agricultural sectors."

The National People’s Congress (NPC) and the top political advisory body, CPPCC, will hold the week-long meetings.
