China launches remote sensing satellite into space

ISTANBUL

China on Wednesday launched into space a new remote sensing satellite.

The satellite Yaogan-33 04 was blasted into space at around 4.15 a.m. (2015GMT Tuesday) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China.

According to Chinese space authorities, the satellite, aboard a Long March rocket, entered its planned orbit.

The satellite will be used for scientific experiments, land resource surveys, crop yield estimates, and disaster prevention and relief work.

It was the 489th flight mission of the home-built Long March carrier rocket series.
