China has begun the second phase of 6G technical trials after the completion of the first phase, an official with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said Wednesday.

Ministry spokesperson Xie Cun said the first phase of 6G technical trials yielded a reserve of more than 300 key 6G technologies, according to state-run Xinhua News.

China has established the world's largest information infrastructure, with the number of 5G base stations surpassing 4.8 million and users exceeding 1.2 billion, said Xie.

China holds most of the 6G patents in the world.

The next generation of wireless technology, 6G, is designed to be much faster than 5G, with speeds of more than a terabit per second and extremely low latency of 100 microseconds.
