Bangladesh reports 11 more dengue deaths

DHAKA, Bangladesh

Dengue continues to wreak havoc in Bangladesh with 11 more deaths reported in the past 24 hours, the country's health authority said.

Hospitalizations on Sunday reached 2,905, the highest single-day record, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

With the latest figures, the nationwide death toll due to dengue reached 398, while hospitalizations stood at 85,411.

A majority of those who were hospitalized made a full recovery.

Last year, 281 people died due to dengue.

Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes.

There is no specific treatment for dengue. However, timely detection can save lives.​​​​​​​
