The Indian Embassy in Ankara is hosting a five-day photo exhibition -- “India Through Turkish Eyes”.

The exhibition -- in coordination with the Photographic Arts Society of Turkey -- highlights the works of Turkish photographers, including Necdet Sukru Altun, Ilker Sahin, Huseyin Sari and Ziya Volkan.

“Turkey and India are very, very old partners. And I think we have collaborated over a very long period of time in different fields,” Sanjay Bhattacharyya, the Indian ambassador to Turkey, told Anadolu Agency at the inauguration ceremony on Monday.

“What we're seeing here today is the expression of people-to-people contacts. We collaborated with the Turkish photo art society, and they provided us with four outstanding photographers,” Bhattacharyya said.

He also said such events will form a bridge between the two countries, adding: “It's a very beautiful expression of a very beautiful relationship.”

The ambassador’s wife Maranu Bhattacharyya, for her part, said they “feel completely at home” in their first three months after appointed in Turkey and it was wonderful to take cultural exchanges forward into the future.

“This photography exhibition for instance is one way to see what India is like and we hope we can have a similar one in India,” she added.

The exhibition -- which started on Monday -- runs through Friday.
