5.3 magnitude earthquake shakes China’s Xinjiang province
Quake southeast of Shihezi at depth of 6 miles, according to US Geological Survey

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck northwestern China on Saturday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake occurred at 5.44 am local time (2144GMT Friday), about 71 kilometers south-southeast of the city of Shihezi in the Xinjiang region, said USGS.
It struck at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles).
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
