4 dead, 3 missing in coal mine accident in southwest China

ISTANBUL

At least four people are dead, and three others are missing following a suspected coal and gas outburst at a coal mine in southwest China, authorities said Thursday.

The accident occurred on Wednesday at the Daying coal mine in Zhenxiong County around 8.10 pm (1210GMT), the county government said, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency.

Rescue operations and an investigation into the cause of the accident are underway.
