- Minister says Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, is 'taking up this issue' with interim Afghan Taliban administration
ISLAMABAD
Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi claimed on Thursday that two Afghan nationals were involved in the two latest suicide attacks in the country.
A suicide bomber blew himself up outside the Judicial Complex in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, on Tuesday, killing at least 12 people and injuring nearly three dozen others.
"Investigators have uncovered and identified the main perpetrators of the Islamabad attack. The suicide bomber was an Afghan national," Naqvi told parliament.
"Another suicide bomber who carried out the attack on Cadet College Wana was also an Afghan national," he added.
Militants, including a suicide bomber, attacked Cadet College in the Wana region of the South Waziristan tribal district near the Afghan border on Monday, ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into the college's main gate.
Pakistani security forces foiled the attack and killed all five militants who entered the college after the suicide bomber destroyed the main gate.
Naqvi said Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, is "taking up this issue" with the interim Afghan Taliban administration.
"This is our main concern. We have repeatedly raised this issue with Afghanistan, but they ‘continue to support terrorists,’" said the interior minister.
Kabul so far has offered no immediate reaction to the Pakistani minister's latest statement.
On Tuesday, the interim Afghanistan government expressed "deep sorrow and condemnation" for the Islamabad blast and attack on Cadet College Wana.
