At least 16 people were killed and 17 others were missing in flood and landslide-related incidents across Nepal, officials and local media said on Wednesday.

The ongoing monsoon rain has caused floods and landslides in several areas, including Kalikot, Mugu, Humla, and Bajura, the Nepal News reported, citing a statement from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, which stated that casualties occurred within the last 24 hours.

On Sunday, at least 13 people were killed and four others were missing when a landslide hit a gathering in the Kalikot area during a funeral rite.

So far, 33 people have died in various parts of the country as a result of the continuous rain and landslides this week.

While, 276 people have died and 33 others have gone missing in natural disaster-related incidents this year, according to official data.
