KARACHI, Pakistan

At least one person was killed and several others injured on Sunday in an explosion in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, an official said.

The explosion occurred near a passenger bus in Khuzdar district, Yasir Iqbal Dashti, a top district official, told reporters.

According to him, seven people were injured in the explosion.

Initial investigation suggested that an improvised explosive device was planted in a car parked along the road.

Mineral-rich Balochistan has long been a hotbed of violence, with separatist groups targeting security forces and civilians from other provinces.
