ANKARA 

Japan has condemned Israel's attack on Iran as "escalating situation," Tokyo-based Kyodo News reported on Friday.

The condemnation came hours after Israel launched a sweeping military operation against Iran, with strikes targeting its nuclear program and long-range missile capabilities.

In a related development, India said it is deeply "concerned" at the recent developments between Iran and Israel.

New Delhi urges the two sides to "avoid any escalatory steps," said a Foreign Ministry statement.
