GAZA CITY
A Palestinian man was seriously wounded after an Israeli fighter jet struck his motorcycle in the central Gaza Strip.
Abdullal al-Khurti was driving his motorbike in Deir al-Balah town in the Palestinian enclave when targeted by an Israeli airstrike, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qadra told Anadolu Agency.
Another Palestinian was also injured in the attack.
In a statement, the Israeli army claimed al-Khurti was responsible for recent rocket firing into Jewish settlements.
It described al-Khurti as a member of the Palestinian Popular Resistance Committees.
The Palestinian group has not responded to the Israeli army's statement.
Tensions have recently been high along the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel.
Over the past weeks, Israeli aircraft hit targets in the Palestinian enclave, saying the strikes were in retaliation for rocket firing from Gaza.
In November 2012, Israel signed an Egypt-brokered ceasefire with Gaza-based resistance groups.
The truce followed eight days of unrelenting Israeli raids on the costal enclave that left nearly 190 Palestinians dead and more than 1,500 injured.
