BUJUMBURA
Three Italian Catholic nuns have been found dead in Burundian capital Bujumbura, the Burundian government said Monday.
In a statement, the government said the three nuns had been found dead late Sunday in a Catholic parish in the northern part of the capital.
Burundian police identified the nuns as Olga Raschietti, Lucia Pulici and Bernadetta Boggian, a security source told Anadolu Agency.
The Burundian government condemned the killings and offered condolences to the victims' families.
There has been no claim of responsibility for the killings.
The Italian Foreign Ministry has condemned the deaths, saying it was awaiting results of investigations into the incident.
In 2011, a Croatian nun and an Italian aid worker were killed in northern Burundi.
