Anadolu CEO meets head of Russia's Tass, highlights cooperation against common challenges
Serdar Karagoz and Andrei Kondrashov meet at 57th Executive Board meeting of Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies in China
BOAO, China
Anadolu's President and CEO Serdar Karagoz met on Wednesday Andrei Kondrashov, the director general of Russian state news agency Tass, and highlighted the importance of fostering cooperation and dialogue to address common challenges.
The meeting came as part of the 57th Executive Board meeting of the Organization of Asia Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Boao, China's Hainan province.
The public's right to accurate news is under threat due to increasing disinformation globally, Karagoz told Kondrashov, adding that the mission of international news agencies to convey the truth has thus become even more important.
Besides regular fact-checking, Anadolu has created the Fact Check Line department, he said.
Through the Fact Check Line Anadolu fact-checks dubious news or information by using its information network and verification capabilities, Karagoz underscored.

OANA right platform for solidarity, common stance
Karagoz said news organizations must show solidarity and take a common stance on sensitive issues such as attacks on journalists, stressing that nearly 300 journalists lost their lives in Gaza due to Israeli attacks.
The OANA is the right platform to voice a common objection, he said.
Türkiye hopes for peace between Russia and Ukraine as soon as possible, Karagoz added.
Karagoz said Türkiye will host the next year's UN climate change conference COP31, and that Anadolu will organize an environmental forum before the summit to address the responsibilities of news organizations in environmental matters.
He also invited Kondrashov and his team to attend the forum.
Kondrashov thanked Karagoz for Anadolu’s approach toward Tass on international platforms. Tass attaches great importance to the development of relations between the two news agencies and the two countries, he said.
