Venezuela has signed a contract with Russia to purchase 10 million doses of Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccines, the president announced on Wednesday.
Speaking at a news conference, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that every person in the country will be vaccinated, regardless of their nationality.
"We signed another agreement with Moscow to access more medical supplies. Thank you, President Putin," he added.
He went on to say that they aim to vaccinate 10 million people within 90 days free of charge.
Venezuela has 112,636 cases and 1,018 deaths from COVID-19, according to figures compiled by the US' Johns Hopkins University.
