WASHINGTON

US State Secretary Marco Rubio met Friday with Yvette Cooper, the UK’s foreign secretary, to discuss international issues, according to the State Department.

Rubio and Cooper committed to continuing efforts to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to an end through a negotiated settlement, the department said in a statement.

They emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation in Syria and the implementation of phase two of President Donald Trump's 20-point Gaza plan.

"They both underscored their shared focus on securing a humanitarian truce in Sudan," per the statement.
