US House Republicans propose bill raising defense budget to $1T
Bill allocates $25B for President Donald Trump's Golden Dome missile defense plan

ISTANBUL
US House Republicans have introduced a bill to boost Pentagon funding by $150 billion, raising the fiscal year 2025 defense budget to over $1 trillion if approved, The Hill reported.
The bill, created by the Armed Services committees, designates almost $25 billion for US President Donald Trump’s Golden Dome missile defense plan, aimed to safeguard the US from advanced missile threats.
The defense section of the bill was released over the weekend, and the House Armed Services Committee is set to review and vote on the legislation Tuesday.
The new funds, combined with the previously approved $886 billion defense budget, would push US defense spending past $1 trillion for the first time ever.
Republicans aim to pass the bill through budget reconciliation, allowing them to avoid Democratic opposition in the Senate.
“Our defense industrial base has weakened. America’s deterrence is failing and without a generational investment in our national defense, we will lose the ability to defeat our adversaries,” House Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers said in a statement.
The bill also includes $33.7 billion for shipbuilding, $20.4 billion for munitions, $12.9 billion for nuclear deterrence, $11.5 billion for military readiness, $5 billion for border security, $4.5 billion for the B-21 bomber, along with additional funding for aircraft, innovation, and a Pentagon audit.
