US-based software company Salesforce has agreed to acquire Informatica, a pioneer in enterprise AI-powered cloud data management, for $8 billion, according to a statement Tuesday.

Informatica’s common stockholders will receive $25 per share in cash, Salesforce announced.

The acquisition will strengthen Salesforce’s data foundation, enabling the deployment of advanced, responsible agentic AI, it said.

“Together, Salesforce and Informatica will deliver the industry’s most comprehensive, agent-ready data platform,” said Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce.

“By combining Data Cloud, MuleSoft, and Tableau with Informatica’s leading data management capabilities, we’ll empower autonomous AI agents to deliver smarter, safer outcomes, significantly strengthening our position in the $150 billion-plus enterprise data market.”

The acquisition is expected to cement Salesforce’s position in AI-driven enterprise solutions.
