Actor Macaulay Culkin, who starred in the box-office hit Home Alone series and gained kid-star status during the 1990s, endorsed calls for removing outgoing US President Donald Trump's cameo from the series' second installment.

"Sold," Culkin wrote on Twitter late Wednesday as he responded to another user's petition "to digitally replace" Trump's appearance in the 1992 "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" movie.

"Bravo,” said Culkin after the user said “Due to popular request I have removed trump from home alone," along with a short clip.

Shortly after, a number of Twitter users shared clips from the movie with Trump removed from the scene, in which he appears as a transparent silhouette.

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was the first in December to remove Trump's 10-second cameo appearance in the movie, where he gives directions to Culkin's character in the lobby of New York's Plaza Hotel, which Trump owned at the time.

While his son, Donald Trump Jr., called the cut "absolutely pathetic" on Instagram, CBC said it deleted the scene in order to make time for commercials.

Trump has been reported to ask for cameo appearances in various movies in the past that infuriated some Hollywood personalities.

Academy Award-winning actor Matt Damon had said in 2017 the former real-estate tycoon would allow movies to be shot in his buildings with conditions of appearing in them.

"The deal was that if you wanted to shoot in one of his buildings, you had to write him in a part. [Director] Martin Brest had to write something in Scent of a Woman — and the whole crew was in on it," he then had told.

Trump's cameo scene in Al Pacino's Scent of a Woman in 1992 was also cut.

Before starring in his own reality show, The Apprentice, in 186 episodes between 2004-2015, Trump made cameo appearances in features that were shot in New York, such as Woody Allen's Celebrity in 1998, Ben Stiller's Zoolander in 2001, and in a 1999 episode of hit TV-series Sex and the City.
