Turkey on Friday welcomed presidential election results in Bolivia which put Luis Arce in office.
“We welcome that the Bolivian Presidential and Parliamentary elections held on 18 October 2020, the official results of which were announced today, were conducted smoothly in a fair and free atmosphere,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“We wish success to the newly elected President Mr. Luis Arce and that the outcome of the elections will be to the benefit of the friendly people of Bolivia,” it added.
Arce, left-wing presidential candidate from the party of former President Evo Morales, won the presidency in the South American country with 55% of the vote, according to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.
Since a failed 2019 election, Bolivia postponed the presidential vote three times due to the coronavirus pandemic, leaving right-wing interim President Jeanine Anez in power.
