Trump says Republican Party will push to end daylight saving time

WASHINGTON

US President-elect Donald Trump announced on Friday the Republican Party will prioritize efforts to eliminate daylight saving time, calling it "inconvenient" and "very costly to our Nation."

"The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t!" Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social. "Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation."

Trump’s remarks reignite a long-running debate over the twice-annual time change, which critics argue disrupts sleep patterns, reduces productivity, and offers little economic benefit. Supporters contend it provides energy savings and boosts evening activities.
