US President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized French President Emmanuel Macron over a claim regarding Trump’s early departure from the Group of Seven summit in Canada, calling the statement incorrect and suggesting Macron “always gets it wrong.”

In a post shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump rejected Macron’s reported assertion that the US president had left the G7 summit to return to Washington, D.C., in order to work on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.

“Publicity seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a “cease fire” between Israel and Iran," Trump wrote.

“Wrong!” he added. “He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that.”

Without providing further details, Trump added: “Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!”
