Pentagon to cut some staff at Defense Technical Information Center
Effort will save taxpayers over $25 million and 40 ‘mission-essential personnel’ will be retained, spokesman says

WASHINGTON
The Pentagon announced Monday that it will reduce the workforce within the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC).
"This decision eliminates duplicative functions and will refocus DTIC to its core statutory mission of administering a library of technical information and improving the user experience," chief spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement.
The effort will save taxpayers over $25 million and 40 "mission-essential personnel" will be retained to fulfill DTIC's statutory mission, he added.
"The Department remains committed to continued reform and reducing bureaucracy," he said, without sharing further information on the reduction.
The DTIC is a Department of Defense (DoD) organization that serves as a central repository for scientific, technical, engineering and business-related information generated from DoD-funded research and development efforts. It provides access to a wide range of resources, including technical reports, research projects and other relevant information to support the DoD and its contractors.
