London Mayor Sadiq Khan on Tuesday responded to renewed criticism from US President Donald Trump as the long-running war of words between the pair escalated.

Trump, a long-standing critic of the mayor of London, launched a fresh broadside during a meeting in the Oval Office with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Tuesday.

Trump said: “You have a terrible Mayor of London, he’s an incompetent guy, you have Sharia courts, you don’t want Sharia courts.”

Responding to the remarks, a spokesman for Sadiq said: “The Mayor is clearly still living rent free in Donald Trump’s head. He’s obsessed with him. Sadiq could probably claim squatters’ rights.”

Sadiq has vocally opposed Trump since he first entered the White House in 2017.
