The EU commissioner for defense and space on Thursday said the bloc should stand by Denmark in its row with the US over Greenland's future.
Responding to a question on possible US invasion of Greenland, Andrius Kubilius said at the World Economic Forum in Davos: "Denmark is part of the European Union. They have some kind of conversations."
"We should support always Denmark," Kubilius added.
US President Donald Trump first expressed his desire to buy Greenland in 2019, which drew a rebuke from Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. He has now reiterated his desire to acquire the autonomous territory.
"Greenland is a wonderful place. We need it for international security," Trump told reporters on Monday while signing executive orders after returning to the Oval Office.
