Death toll from Colombia landslide climbs to 16
8 still unaccounted for, search ongoing for missing, local officials confirm

The number of people killed in a recent landslide near Medellin, Colombia has risen to 16, as rescue teams continue efforts to locate the missing, according to local authorities on Thursday.
Andres Julian Rendon, governor of the Antioquia department, announced on X that eight individuals remain missing.
The landslide struck on Tuesday in the mountainous area of Bello, just outside Medellin, Colombia’s second-largest city, after intense rainfall caused a nearby stream to overflow.
Located in the western Andes, Antioquia frequently experiences landslides during the rainy season.
