Colombia to vaccinate refugees for coronavirus

BOGOTA, Colombia

Colombia will vaccinate refugees and irregular migrants for coronavirus, the Health Ministry announced Friday.

Irregular immigrants and refugees were asked to register to be vaccinated by applying to governorships and municipalities by Aug. 30, said the ministry.

There are nearly 2 million irregular migrants and refugees in Colombia, mostly Venezuelans, according to media reports.

The death toll from COVID-19 in Colombia reached 122,087 in the past 24 hours with 188 new fatalities.

A total of 6,980 new cases were confirmed, taking the number of infections to 4.82 million.
