Brazil’s president hospitalized with intestinal blockage, may need surgery

BUENOS AIRES

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been rushed to hospital with a probable intestinal blockage on early Monday.

Sharing his photo on Twitter, Bolsonaro, who was on vacation in the southern state of Santa Catarina, said that he “started to feel sick” after lunch on Sunday.

“Further tests will be conducted for a potential surgery on an internal obstruction in the abdominal region,” he added.

Earlier, the government announced that the president was taken to the Vila Nova Star Hospital in Sao Paulo.

A statement from the Vila Nova Star Hospital said that Bolsonaro had been admitted with an intestinal blockage but is in a stable condition.
