At least three people were killed and two hundred others injured as two commuter trains collided on Tuesday, an emergency medical service said.
In a Twitter post, ER24, a private emergency service, said about 200 people were injured in the collusion at the Mountain View train station in the north of the country’s capital Pretoria.
Photos of the train accident broadcast on local television showed heavily damaged train carriages, indicating the death toll could raise.
Local broadcaster SABC reported that the accident happened at about 9 a.m. local time (0700GMT) but did not give further details.
