Plane crash in eastern DR Congo kills 3: Report

YAOUNDE, Cameroon

A plane crashed in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Wednesday, killing three people, including two crew members and a passenger, according to a media report.

The accident occurred at around 12 p.m. local time (1100GMT) at the Kavumu Airport in Bukavu, the capital city of the eastern Sud-Kivu province, according to UN-run Radio Okapi.

Witnesses said it was a commercial aircraft of the KIN AVIA company, which failed to take off and completely crashed into swampy terrain not far from the airport.

The cause of the crash is yet to be known.
