Ethiopia on Saturday said no COVID-19 case has been found in the last 24 hours.

The daily update by the Health Ministry showed a record number of 2,016 tests were conducted over the past day.

"No new infection has been found from the samples tested," it said.

Meanwhile, the ministry said additional three patients have fully recovered.

That brought the total number of recoveries to 69, surpassing active cases that now stand at 59.

Of the total 20,770 virus tests conducted in the country so far, there are 133 confirmed cases and three deaths.

According to Health Minister Liya Kebede, the country is well poised to step up its lab testing capacity.

She also said her ministry was getting rundown ventilators repaired to be prepared for the worst.

Ethiopia only has a few over 400 ventilators, but, according to Liya, the country is in the process of importing more ventilators.
