Ten Boko Haram militants were killed Friday night in northeastern Borno state, army spokesman said on Saturday.

Also, three soldiers were killed and 27 others injured as troops fought off an attack on their position by Boko Haram militants in Kangarwa village of Borno state, said spokesman Sani Usman.

“The resilient troops repelled the incursion and in the process killed 10 insurgents and wounded several others,” Usman said.

“Unfortunately, three soldiers paid the supreme price in the course of the encounter, while 27 soldiers sustained various degrees of injuries. The bodies of the gallant soldiers and those injured have since been evacuated for treatment,” he added.

Usman said troops recovered one Pulemyot Kalashnkova Machine (PKM) Gun, with 67 rounds of ammunition, 1 AK-47 Rifle with 18 rounds of ammunition, 2 AK-Rifle top covers and 3 Dane Guns with 1 cartridge and Boko Haram terrorists flag.

The attack on the troops occurred the same day when four suicide bombers killed at least nine people - including themselves - in northeastern Madagali town of Adamawa state.
