Death toll climbs to 6 in China’s goldmine fire

The number of dead in a goldmine fire rose to six while four miners remain hospitalized in eastern China, according to media reports.

The fire broke out as workers were repairing facilities at the Caojiawa Gold Mine in Zhaoyuan in the province of Shandong, said Chinese Global Times.

Rescued workers have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The latest accident comes after at least 22 miners were trapped on Jan. 10 in a goldmine explosion in Qixia, also in Shandong province.
