COVID 19 cases in Africa surpass 2M

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia

The total number of coronavirus cases in Africa topped 2 million, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention said in an update on Friday.

The death toll in the continent reached 48,681, while, more than 1.7 million virus patients have recovered.

Of the five geographical regions in the continent, Southern Africa is the hardest hit with 85,100 cases and 22,300 deaths. However, this region has also recorded the most number of recoveries that has now stood at 778,500.

North Africa recorded 66,300 cases, East Africa 249,200, West Africa 200,000, while Central Africa registered 63,500 cases.​​​​​​​
