Algeria reported two new coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the total infections to three, according to the Health Ministry.

A ministry statement said a mother and her daughter were diagnosed with the virus in Blida province.

They have been infected by a relative, who recently returned from France, the statement said.

On Feb. 25, Algeria reported its first COVID-19 case of an Italian citizen, who was later sent back to home country.

The global death toll from the coronavirus has reached some 2,900, with more than 88,000 infected.

The World Health Organization, which already declared the outbreak an international health emergency, updated the global risk level to very high.
