Turkish military: 22 PKK killed in southeast clashes

ANKARA

Turkey’s military has said the total number of PKK terrorists killed in recent fighting in the country’s east has reached 22.

The Turkish General Staff on Monday said seven PKK members were found dead with their weapons and ammunition on Monday in Beytussebap, a mountainous district of Sirnak province which borders Syria and Iraq.

The dead were in addition to 15 PKK terrorists killed on Sept. 26, the General Staff said.

Turkey's security forces also said a PKK terrorist fleeing the group surrendered without arms and ammunition in the southeastern Nusaybin district of Mardin province on Monday.

According to Turkish government figures, the PKK has killed around 30 civilians since July, while more than 120 members of the security forces have been martyred.

The renewed violence has come in the wake of the July 20 Suruc massacre, blamed on Daesh. The fighting has seen the collapse of a fragile cease-fire from early 2013 dubbed the ‘solution process’ which sought an end to the 30-year conflict between the terrorist organization PKK and the Turkish state.
