Football: Trabzonspor stun Galatasaray in Istanbul

ANKARA

Trabzonspor crushed Galatasaray 3-0 in the tenth week of the Turkish Spor Toto Super League on Saturday night.

The match was played at Galatasaray's stadium, the Turk Telekom Arena in Istanbul.

In the fourth minute, Galatasaray winger Olcan Adin had a close range shot, which was deflected for a corner.

In the 16th minute, Olcan Adin wasted another chance in the box. Despite being one-on-one in the box, his shot went over the bar.

Three minutes later, Galatasaray's Selcuk Inan shaved the woodwork with a free kick.

In the 41st minute, Trabzonspor midfielder Ozer Hurmaci rattled the bar.

Their Portuguese right-back, Jose Bosingwa, beat Galatasaray's offside trap and passed a deadly diagonal ball from the right.

Both teams headed to their dressing rooms goalless at half-time.

In 58th minute, Trabzonspor took the lead through Carl Medjani's header in the area: 1-0.

In 75th minute, Oscar Cardozo's long range drive was deflected by Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

Only a minute later, Medjani tapped the ball in at the far post to score his second goal of the night and make it 2-0.

Trabzonspor's Ozer Hurmaci whipped the ball in from a corner kick and Greek center-back Avraam Papadopoulos passed it to the far post - allowing Medjani to finish his easiest chance of the game so far.

After Trabzonspor's second goal, Galatasaray's Italian manager Cesare Prandelli was booed and urged to resign from some sections of the crowd.

With four minutes to go, Trabzonspor increased the goal difference to three.

Turkish winger Yusuf Erdogan dribbled past Galatasaray defender Aurelien Chedjou and, with a classy shot in the box, made it 3-0.

Thus, Trabzonspor's newly appointed manager Ersun Yanal convincingly won his first match in charge of the northern side.

Following their triumph, Trabzonspor climbed up to fifth position in the standings, having now collected 15 points this season.

After the game, in a heart-warming display of sportsmanship, Trabzonspor footballers were applauded by Galatasaray fans.

Saturday's results are as follows:

Caykur Rizespor 0-2 Istanbul Basaksehir

Akhisar Belediyespor 1-1 Mersin Idmanyurdu

Galatasaray 0-3 Trabzonspor
