MOSCOW
U.S. attempts to create a "large-scale anti-Russian coalition" have failed, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.
Lavrov said in an interview with Russian news agency Interfax on Monday that Russia had been able to establish an "equal, mutually respectful dialog" with most states despite attempts by Washington to destabilize Moscow's international relations.
He said Moscow was not interested in a confrontation with the West and an escape from a "spiral of confrontation" was possible.
"In spite of some unfriendly steps by Western partners, we are against descending into primitive confrontational schemes," Lavrov added.
